The Raptors Championship Ring Is Fantastic
I said it earlier today and I'll say it again. There's nothing like watching your favorite basketball team get their rings and raise the banner to the rafters. Multiply that by a billion when it's the first time in your franchise's history. For the Raptors to take a huge risk earlier that summer and trade the face of their franchise for a guy who nobody knew just how healthy he was or where he would play after the season ended up being the best thing Masai Ujiri has ever fucking done. That's big time balls and you have to give him credit, he went for it and it worked. The deadline deal for Gasol, his homegrown player in Siakam turning into a legit stud, making sure to also get Danny Green in the Kawhi trade, just a master class in how you GM when you're going all in. It doesn't even matter that Kawhi and Danny Green are now gone. For the Raptors and their situation heading into last season, the risk was worth it.
So of course they pulledl out all the stops for this ceremony and they had to bring the heat for the ring. The first ever ring is a very important decision and in my opinion they nailed it. That's a dope championship ring. Pretty cool moment for everyone involved since who knows if the Raptors will ever get here again. But honestly who cares. That Kawhi run was pretty epic and for the next 8ish months the Larry O'Brien trophy resides in The North.
